Footprints In The Valley
Don’t miss the book launch of the most recent anthology of Mudgee local identities Footprints In The Valley.
The event will be held at Club Mudgee on 25th February from 1:30 pm. Our own local identity and poet extraordinaire Bob Campbell will be Masters of Ceremony joined by fellow musicians and poets.
Much More Than Words Anthology Launch
What a successful exhibition was had over the weekend. We were well attended by local entrants and their families along with our local poet laureates.
The pictures tell the story. We all enjoyed hearing Bob Campbell read Deborah Cooke’s winning entry, Rekindling, and Monica reading her entry, Babe of the Vineyards.
Well done to the Mudgee Valley Writers team for their hard work and the Mudgee Readers Festival team for the impeccable organisation and presentations on the day.
Now we can take a few breaths until our next competition and book launch.
Come to our Exhibition
The mini–Mudgee Readers Festival will be held over the weekend beginning on the 26th of August. We’ll be exhibiting all the entries of our very successful Much More Than Words competition at the Town Hall Library from 2 pm along with a free afternoon tea.
The Much More Than Words Exhibition held at the Town Hall Theatre at 2 pm on 27th August.
At 3 pm our very own Bob Campbell will be leading a group of poets for an hour of poetry.
All are invited to attend this free event and we’d love to see all entrants—whose works will be displayed. The Much More Than Words anthology has been received by prize winners and highly commended entrants. Copies will be available at the exhibition.
Come and visit our beautiful regional town and sample the locally grown wine and food and enjoy our renowned hospitality.
And the winner is…
The Much More Than Words competition has wrapped up for this year and we couldn’t have done it without our sponsors, Mid-Western Regional Council and Moolarben Coal. Without sponsorship, our competition and upcoming exhibition of entries would not be possible.
Congratulations to all those who entered. Every entry was of high quality with entrants ranging in age from ten years to grandparents, covering a wide range of topics. The combination of eye-catching images and wonderful prose and poetry made the judges’ job very difficult. But a decision had to be made. The first prize went to Deborah Cooke for ‘Rekindling’ (featured image). Below are all the finalists and the entries to be published in the Much More Than Words anthology.
Our exhibition for all entries and the launch of the anthology will be held in conjunction with the Mudgee Readers Festival on Saturday 27th August. Further details of the venue and time will be available closer to the date. We welcome everyone to come along to the exhibition and join in on the fun of the Launch. Our own poet and musician, Bob Campbell will be entertaining all in attendance.
Again, congratulations to all our entrants and those who made our finalists list.
